Mayflower Heart - Guest Heart Thursday

When Sissy and I went for our last walk through the woods surrounding The Abandoned, we found white Trilliums, sunny yellow Johnny Jump Ups and purple May flowers carpeting the forest floor.

I find the purple color of the delicate Mayflower blooms almost impossible to capture on my camera.  But I think I caught it this time--and look!  The flowers form a heart--perfect for Guest Heart Thursday.

Heart in Rubble - Guest Heart Thursday

Sissy and I were exploring The Abandoned  last week--such a wonderful time.  I walked out onto the roof outside the upstairs office area and found this unexpected Heart in the Rubble.

More Gorgeous Graffiti Art from The Abandoned

In the same room as the giant face, we found this incredibly lovely bit of Graffiti.  I especially like the colors these artists used.

Here is a closeup.  One never knows what one might find in The Abandoned.

Broken Beauty - Weekend Reflections

What a wonderful afternoon Sissy and I had together, once more walking the echoing halls of  The Abandoned.  We were upstairs in what was formerly the office area, when we noticed how tall the flowering fruit tree had grown.  On the ledge where a window once occupied space, I found a small leftover shard of glass--reflecting the beauty of Springtime.

As always, in The Abandoned, one can find a certain Broken Beauty amidst chaos.

Graffiti Face in The Abandoned

Yesterday I had the fun of wandering in The Abandoned with my beloved Sister Clytie.  Sissy and I were in awe of the newest graffiti art we found in one of the back areas of the largest building.

Here he is, Ice Cube Baby, from another angle.  You can see how the entire building has been cleared, except for the huge piles of debris in the main parts of the building.  Those piles are not visible from this rubbled view.

Here is a closeup.  I am in awe of these artists--they do their amazing artwork with spray cans.  What talent flows from their fingertips!

Springtime in The Abandoned - Pink Saturday

The grounds surrounding The Abandoned hold many surprises, including this gorgeous rhododendron nestling next to the bark of a pine tree.

These fragile pink blooms grow outside what used to be the commons, where people would eat lunch next to the now non-existent ceiling high windows.

Outside the office area windows one can find springtime blossoms gracing the trees and reflecting back from the broken windows.

Conch Heart - Guest Heart Thursday

This picture was taken back behind the kitchen area in the woods surrounding The Abandoned.  Last Spring Sissy and I went for many long walks--I am looking forward to seeing her soon for one of those lovely long walks.  This will be the first time this Spring!  I'm so excited.

There are several hearts in this photograph, can you find them?

Tree Contortions

A moss covered triangle caught my eye in the early spring Sunshine.

A giant tree spider traipsed through the forest, high above our heads.

This tree with mossy swing branch is much too tall to sit in these days--but when we were children we would sit and swing here.

One can find the most beautiful trees and mosses in the forests near The Abandoned.
