In the Green of the Forest

Here is a wonderful old tree found in the outskirts of what was once The Abandoned.  The forest is still untouched--yet I fear that may not last long.  There are now parcels of land for sale along the tip of the Canyon.  The forest as we knew it may not survive.  In the meantime, here is this old man tree in the green of the forests of my childhood.

Sunset in The Abandoned

For now, before the houses are built, there is a certain beauty and peace about this place.  It brings to mind memories from my childhood.  A swamp and a field, where the red fox hunted for mice.  I can remember the charming sight of the foxes leaping above the grasses, disappearing and then leaping again.

So beautiful.

Have a lovely weekend, dear Friends.

Fairy Bowl?

So many interesting things can be found in the forests of my childhood, which surround what is left of The Abandoned.  This wonderful bit of lichen reminds me of a fairy bowl.  One could imagine this on the elegant, leaf-clad table of the fairy folk.

Rough Roads in the Abandoned

Here they are building roads, along which houses will be built.  I'm so grateful to see they are leaving the wooded areas surrounding this place alone.

This was intriguing to me.  It appears to be part of a fork lift?

Have a lovely day!

A little Light on the Subject...

I found this wonderful light bulb in a pile of rubbish.  There's something translucent and magical about it.

As you can see--it is quite large.  I took it home with me...wondering what I will create with it.  Any ideas?

Have a lovely week, Friends.

Mystery in The Abandoned

My sister and I walked along the main road to the new entrance of what was once The Abandoned.  Here is a roadside beauty I'd never seen before.  Such a luscious color of yellow.

The air was quiet after a day of dust and noise.  Since it was after hours, the equipment sat at attention along the new entrance and road.

I liked the texture of this machine's steel studded wheels.

Above you see a huge cake of dirt--just left in place for some undetermined purpose.

And the mystery of which I spoke?  Here it is...that green gathering of light near one of the caterpillar machines.  Is it one of the shadow people of The Abandoned? Or is it just a fluke of odd lighting in my camera.  One might wonder.

Have a lovely day!

Flattened

The Abandoned is no longer.  These rolling hills are a preview of what is to come.  Soon houses and buildings will grace the place, where mystery once ruled.

However, one can find dinosaur foot prints every now and then.  Who knows what interesting wildlife lurks in the forests of my childhood, which still stand in their pristine beauty.

Just sayin'.
